Blueprint of a First Year

Are We Successful Yet?

by NAILS Magazine | March 11, 2013 | Bookmark +

I know we have only been open for 11 months, but every day I ask myself: Did we make the right decision? Are we really successful? The answer is: Definitely.

Our goal was to be busy and making a good living at the two-year mark, and we are on our way! Kim and Natalie are no longer sitting around waiting for someone to come in and they spend more time at the salon now, happy and eager to get there.

Since opening last April without a budget, we have managed to pull together almost everything on our wish list. New tables, check. Pedi station, check. Decor, check. Chandeliers, check. New logo, check, check, check.

As I look around, there are still a few things we have yet to do such as build footrests, signage, and a few more things, but all in all we're not looking like we're under construction anymore. But the best thing is that the phone is ringing more, and clients are understanding that we prefer to book by appointment. Yes we take walk-ins but recently we have had to turn away several potential clients because we were busy when they walked in.

Polish Salon has truly turned into what we refer to as our “happy place” to work, and it’s only going to get better. So if you're struggling with a new salon, there is light at the end of the tunnel if you stay true to your plan.
