Tragedy Strikes Baltimore Nail Salon

by Kimberly Pham | May 29, 2014 | Bookmark +

On Monday, May 5th, at T&T Nail Salon in East Baltimore, Truc Thi Ly Nguyen was fatally shot, an innocent victim caught in the crossfire. While Nguyen was performing a pedicure on a client, two men ran into the salon, one chasing the other. The second man to run in opened fire, striking his intended target in the back and striking Nguyen in the head.

Nguyen’s fiance, Quan Ngoc Tran, explains the events that took place in the salon in the video above from CBS Baltimore.

After seeing his wife shot, Tran tackled the gunman and held him down until the police arrived. The gunman is facing charges of the murder of Nguyen and attempted murder.

Tran spoke with The Baltimore Sun’s Justin George about meeting his wife-to-be three years ago, helping her learn English and driving her to get her nail license. Read more about the store by clicking here.

How you can help:
The family has set up a GoFundMe page where you can donate funds to help Nguyen make her last trip home to Vietnam, where her family lives. “I try the best I can to save money, but this was so unexpected. I appreciate any help given to make all this possible and her family will greatly appreciate your help as well,” her fiance, Tran, wrote on the crowdfunding site.  http://www.gofundme.com/8xvv1k

I'd like to offer our sympathy and deepest condolences to Tran, Nguyen's family, and all those affected by this tragic event.
