A common concern among nail professionals has always been speed of service time. It stresses out the meticulous and detail oriented tech to hear corner cutting times like thirty-minute rebalances and/or sets. In reality, the average is more along the lines of an hour to an hour and a half. Be secure in knowing quality takes time and that the discerning client can be educated to that fact!
One thing that can help improve your speed if being slow is a problem and not just a side effect of attention to detail is file control. Knowing that your file hits where you want it to and does so effectively with strokes that contribute to your nail structure instead of damaging it can be a time saving skill. One of the easiest ways to do this is using a crayon, raw egg, and 100 grit file (yes I said a raw egg and no you shouldn’t hard boil it.). To make it more fun and less intimidating for you, check out the video below of a class full of techs not only subjected to the exercise, they were timed as well. Give it a try and see if you don’t find your file skills improving and picking up pace, have fun and don’t break the egg!
