As an editor who works in a cubicle, I’ll take any chance to get out of the office to explore the nail world in real life. So when NAILS got invited to meet up with Cuccio in Venice Beach, Calif., on Wednesday, we were there.

Venice Beach is a seaside neighborhood known for its canals and circus-like promenade that’s packed with tourist, artists, performers, and vendors. It turns out, Cuccio’s founders Tony and Roby Cuccio were once vendors on the boardwalk. The duo launched the nail company in 1981 by selling nail polish on a Venice street corner and discovered their products were in high demand. They offered private label products at low prices and after much hustle, the cash flowed in.
To pay tribute to the company’s humble beginnings and looking ahead into the future, Cuccio kicked off its latest nail polish collection inspired by the boardwalk’s energy and good vibes.
The Venice Beach ’81 Collection features A Star is Born, Pink Cadillac, California Dreaming, Roller Skate!, Mimes & Musicians, Good Vibrations, Muscle Beach, and Soul Surfer. The line is also available in Cuccio Colour Veneer gel-polish.
