Mani Monday: Gel II’s Day to Night Floral Nails

by Sigourney Nuñez | May 4, 2015 | Bookmark +

Give your clients a nail art design that can easily transition from a day to night look by pairing pretty pastels with an edgy and dark shade. This step-by-step by Gel II’s regional educator, Becky Wroblewski of Chicago, Ill., will show you how to create a budding midnight manicure.

1. Apply two coats of G003 Midnight Black. Cure each coat for 30 seconds under the Gel II LED lamp. Apply one coat of No Cleanse Matte Top Coat. Cure for 50 seconds.

2. On a palette, place a drop or two or each of the Carousel Collection colors. Marvelous Melody is the main color used in this design.

3. Using a simple comma stroke, apply one “comma “flower.” Flash cure for five seconds and apply the second “comma flower” in the same color on the opposite side of the nail and flash cure again.

4. Continue to fill the nail with flowers and fill the larger spaces with bigger strokes and then smaller strokes. Repeat as desired.

5. Cure for a full 30 seconds. Wipe away any black on the color accents.

Pro tip: To create this look without texture, apply one coat of No Cleanse Matte Top Coat. Cure for 50 seconds. To achieve a perfectly smooth surface, apply two coats of matte top coat.
