Protect Your Eyes in Style

It’s pretty exciting that there seems to be an ongoing trend of nail techs moving toward using personal protection equipment.

The big thing right now is gloves and I know it hasn’t killed me personally to start using them in the salon after completing my A.N.T. (Advanced Nail Tech) training. My clients have not been bothered by it either and it does give a more professional and medical feel to the service. If you haven’t gotten into gloves yet, the current Face-to-Face with Doug Schoon episode covers how to choose the best gloves! I know you need a subscription to watch it; however, I can also imagine you have spent $5 on much less useful things. Right?

It looks like NTNA runner up, Lauren Wireman is planning to lead the way in professionals donning safety glasses by offering Nail Spex. Nail Spex are clever, hand-designed safety glasses that lend an air of trend and fun to the wearer, making it seem less like a safety precaution and more like a fashionable accessory! They are comfortable to wear, fun to pick out, and the profits go to the start-up and accreditation of Wildflowers Nail Academy. Contributing to the future of the industry while protecting one of your most valuable tools (your eyes) sounds like a pretty smart business move to me. For more information on Nail Spex, click here
