OPI Debuts ManiCares With Look Good Feel Better

In the heart of this year's Breast Cancer Awareness month, OPI and Look Good Feel Better teamed up to create ManiCares, an elegant yet relaxing event just for breast cancer patients and survivors. It was held in Beverly Hills at the chic SMS Hotel Beverly Hills.

More than 100 special guests from the greater Southern California area came to enjoy themselves and to celebrate their beauty with a host of services, anchored by OPI manicures. From the moment of arrival, they were made to feel like celebrities: there was a red (make that pink) carpet awaiting them.

Guests could then sign in for a manicure with one of OPI's many colors, with pink being the most popular choice.

After surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy treatments a person usually feels vulnerable and gloomy. "Appearance-altering side effects can be a devastating blow," Samantha Harris told the group as she spoke about her own bout with breast cancer at the age of 39. "I am a positive person but cancer struck that down." She applauded OPI and Look Good Feel Better for offering programs that helped women get their positivity and strength back.

No one went hungry, either.

Dora Boeckmann came with her daughter Daisy from Long Beach. "I was diagnosed three years ago," she told me. The pair went on a walk for breast cancer in the morning, and are signed up for another one next weekend! "I just feel so grateful that I am alive," Dora told me simply.

The guests looked beautiful, many sporting fuschia dresses and some wearing fresh flower comb ornaments they made at the Fleurish booth (a do-it-yourself floral design company). The party's logo, #HelpBetterBegin, charged all of us to carry our feelings of inner and outer beauty through good times and bad, into the harried world outside.

Great gift baskets filled with beauty products were displayed in the festive outdoor courtyard.
