Technique Tuesday: Shattered Glass Nails

by Staff | November 24, 2015 | Bookmark +

With the new broken glass nail trend taking the beauty industry by storm and in high demand across nail salons, we reached out to CND’s International Education Ambassador, Fiona Wallace, for some expert advice on how to create this coveted look. “As nail professionals, we love and are excited by trends like this, as they allow us to take painting nails to a new level,” says Wallace. Folow these steps to get a sensational shattered glass look for the holidays.

1. Prep the natural nail. Apply a thin layer of Shellac Brand Base Coat and cure for 10 seconds in the CND LED lamp. Apply two thin layers of Shellac in Peacock Plume. Cure each layer for one minute. Apply a thin layer of Shellac in Clearly Pink. Do not cure.

2. Use an orangewood stick to apply CND Additive Crystal Crush piece by piece. Select medium and smaller shards to press into the tacky layer of uncured Shellac. When finished, cure for one minute.

3. Apply XPRESS5 Top Coat and cure for one minute. Wipe with 99% IPA to remove inhibition layer.
