12 Days of Quick Tips Day 9: Host a Food Drive or Gift Collection

We are getting down to the wire! There are only a few days left until Christmas (if that's what your clients celebrate) and other holidays are coming and going along with New Years on the horizon. With that in mind, many clients are probably bringing goodies, treats, and gifts that we can snack on. While some of you probably enjoy taking the goodies home to your family, there are some that prefer to try avoiding mass quantities of sugary concoctions. There's no need to cringe, apologize, or refuse a gift because that means taking a chance on hurting someone's feelings. You can try to pawn it off to a coworker but she too might be already overloaded with more of the same.

Have you thought about maybe trying one or two things so that you can complement the client when they return for their next visit and then dropping the rest of the goodies off at a shelter? That takes care of this year; however, you may want to put a contingency plan in place for next year! One idea is to host a food drive or a gift collection for families, veterans, etc. in your local areas that are in need. You could accompany a box or a tree with a note that says, “In lieu of gifting our salon employees please feel free to donate to our cause for the season.”

Let’s spread the gift of giving!
