This week’s highlight: a visit from a Tammy Taylor educator. She demonstrated how to accomplish the perfect pink-and-white sculpt. We had some fun, we learned some things, and I ordered the student kit. I ordered it because I have never had the opportunity to work with it. I'm sure that anyone in this industry can understand how wonderful it all looks! As a student, I love that I'm able to try different brands to learn what works best for me and how I operate as a nail technician. There are so many product options, and sometimes I find it overwhelming. But I have learned during this journey that I just have to use what works for me and take my time figuring that out. What I enjoyed about Tamara Weeks’ visit was that she came across as sincerely excited about what she does and the brand she represents. Given that I have a goal of becoming a brand educator/ambassador, it was great to see someone with so much passion about what she's teaching.

The one thing I would have loved to have had more exposure to during my school experience is different brand educators/ambassadors. It would have been great to see them in their element demonstrating the brand and being able to understand more about what separates certain products from others. School is jammed-packed with so much that we are required to learn, but this would be nice to do as well. I know education is going to be an ongoing thing and I am looking forward to it. I am already planning to attend some shows and head out to the west coast to some training classes as well. Yes, I am excited and I want to soak up as much as I can!

Because I'm so close to the completion of my program, my friends and family want to know what is next for me. I imagined I would have had more time to actually plan this out, but it didn’t happen like I thought I would. My focus upon completing the program is to prepare for state board testing. It is my intent to do this only one time, and in a couple of weeks I will have some prep time at school. After that, I am open to whatever is going to be in store for me next. Ultimately having my own salon is the goal, but I want to take the time to plan for that and do things right the first time. There are so many things to think about but I am optimistic about it all. I have made some great relationships on this journey that I want to carry into the next chapter. You will even see me adding "blogger" to my line up of goals!
