Nails 101: A Student Blog

Week 3: Learning the Salon Business

by Tiffany Williams | November 14, 2016 | Bookmark +

This week we learned more about how the salon business works. We also learned the different types of ways you can work: As a nail technician you can work as an employee at a salon, rent a booth at a salon —  which only works if you have a large clientele — or you can freelance, which is when you work for yourself, usually from home. You can also add mobility to your services, which means you'll travel to the client. After we finished the business discussion we went hands-on with our practice. I did a full set on my practice hand and decided to do everything in colored acrylic and glitter acrylic. Later on in the week I did some nail art on my other practice hand. This week was a relaxed, calm week but I know that's because we have our first written exam on all the chapters we've done so far next week, so I have to make sure I study and pass with a good grade. See you in Week 4!
