Here are some more sculpted nails. I'm always trying to stay busy!

It was another short week, so I got the much needed time with my family, which was definitely the recharge I needed. As I approach the end of my  journey as a nail tech student, there have been days where it is hard to leave my kids and come to school. It’s not going to school that I dread, it’s the time I’m away from my family. But I remind myself that I am so close to finishing and that I'm doing this for my family. I just have to push through this. It’s funny though because once I start a service, I fade into my own little world and the time just flies by.

We came back from our Thanksgiving break and it was right back to work. I came in ready to go and ask our receptionist if I had any clients scheduled. After finding out I had a pedicure request, I immediately got my station set up. It’s sweet because I feel like I’ve already developed a decent clientele, so most of my appointments are requested, but this makes it difficult for my friends to schedule. While I feel bad that I can’t get everyone in when they would like, I also feel pretty good. This just means once I’m licensed, I’ll hopefully already have a steady clientele to start off with. Anyway, my client arrived and when I went to go greet her and bring her back to the pedicure chair, she welcomed me with the warmest hug! At that moment I felt like I am exactly where I need to be! After our lovely greeting we walked back to begin services. She wanted a full set, but she didn’t realize that it would take more time than she had available, so she made an appointment for the following day. (I didn’t get a picture of her toes, I'm starting to realize not all woman like there feet on camera!)

I am getting ready for my final test!

Next day came and my lovely client returned for her full set. I tried to convince her to let me do sculpted nails but she knows what she wants and I respect that. I did, on the other hand,  get to sculpt her thumbs because they were a unique shape so there wasn’t a tip to fit them perfectly. Of course, she chose pink because that's her favorite color, but she trusted me to add a little pop of an accent nail with pink foil on top. I was proud of her that she stepped out of her comfort zone and she trusted me enough to do it. I always say don’t just do nails, make a difference!

Now that we are so close to our 500-hour mark, which is when we can take our state board practical, we spend our class days prepping for the state board. It is so nerve-wracking to feel that pressure but it’s also helping me. I noticed that since we're being timed for state board, I know how to work faster under that pressure. But we’re killing it, and I have no doubt in my mind that we’re ready! The 1st of February is literally right around the corner. We need to keep up the hard work and stay focused, motivated and positive. Things are about to change!

Love,

JoJo
