Last night, OPI threw a decked out Grease-themed soiree to launch their summer polish line inspired by the iconic movie, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Executive editor Beth Livesay and I arrived promptly at 6 p.m. at Mels Drive-In, a famous '50s diner in West Hollywood. We were immediately greeted by costumed waitresses donning 50s-style serving trays full of "cigarette" boxes (don't worry, it was actually just candy!) and of course, lots of polish. We were also given delicious milkshakes and glass bottle Cokes that we sipped as we chatted on the patio, enjoying a perfectly temperate golden hour on Sunset Blvd.

As the event picked up, we spotted familiar industry faces, as well as celebrities like Tori Spelling and Tess Holiday, who I actually snagged a photo with and chatted for a few minutes about our shared love of Long Beach (where we both live). I'm a huge fan of her, and even more so now that I know she's a nail lover! She was wearing a Pink Lady-esque French manicure created by nail tech @sohotrightnail.

Check out @tessholliday’s nail polish earrings and adorable manicure, they’re almost as adorable as her! #opixgrease 💅💘

Tom Bachik and other men wore T-bird bombers in black, while all the ladies received Pink Lady bombers that OPI also offered to have embroidered with our names! Wahoo!

Bachik was enthusiastic about the theme and completed his look with a fake gum cigarette in his ear, studly sunglasses, and a playful attitude as he spoke to our Instagram followers in our story.

We took photos in an old-fashioned car with flames painted along the sides that sat in front of a bright pink and grassy OPI backdrop. The whole event was so aesthetic!

Once we were inside, Suzi Weiss-Fischmann and Tom Bachik discussed their excitement over the Grease collection, which features retro summer shades, pastel pinks, and T-Bird approved icy blues. Three shades include Leather Effects, which is a three-dimensional effect with leather-like texture.

The rest of the night, we watched the movie Grease while Pink Ladies and T-Birds sporadically performed choregraphed dances to the movie's famous songs that are reminiscent around the world of a romantic coming-of-age summer.

Attendees were able to get free manicures with the color of their choice in the diner. I wasn't able to partake because I have a fresh gel mani, but the event was a blast, and I am so excited to try out the polishes I received, especially "Don't Cry Over Spilled Milkshakes" and "Frenchie Likes to Kiss?"

But in truth, all of the polishes are "the one that I want!"

Cheers to upcoming summer nights and the OPIxGrease polish.
