Last weekend I toured Atlanta for Salon Today and Modern Salon’s Data Driven Salon Summit . This event is highly informative, especially if you’re a salon owner looking to analyze data and thus grow your business. The summit consisted of keynote speakers, panelists, and editors from the magazines facilitating discussion. Attendees had excellent questions for the speakers, and although the subject matter seemed serious, the event itself was relaxing and fun. Guests enjoyed networking over cocktails, at parties, and over brunch on the final day.

A few of my favorite takeaways from the Summit:

  • Your business isn’t about capturing data, it’s about finding meaning.
  • This is an age of continuous experimentation. Apply that to your business (social media, marketing, etc.) and see what works best.
  • Being “closed and contained” will no longer work. We all have to be open, as everything is so transparent.

I encourage you to sign up next year if you are interested in mining data to better your business.

While in Georgia, publisher Michelle Mullen and I stopped by Elaine Sterling’s 10 year anniversary party. Elaine Sterling is a beautiful school located in Atlanta. The nail students completed impressive artwork for the school celebration. Nail instructor Stacie Brown was on-hand to introduce us to students both past and present. CND’s Kim Jones and Nailympia winner RussAnna Dudley gave us a warm Georgia welcome to the area.

Had a wonderful day with amazing friends talking about my favorite subject NAILS!!!!!
