Michael Megna built Backscratchers Salon Systems, Inc. through an acute business sense and an extraordinary commitment to the professional beauty industry and its needs.
Megna’s family had long been in the industry, and he was well aware of the hazards surrounding the procedures of nail application. He and his father, Jack Megna, began experimenting with fiberglass, a new lightweight material that was durable and strong. After an initial year of research and development, they found a formula that was safe and more durable than industry standards. In 1983, Backscratchers’ Glass Glaze Fiberglass & Silk Wrap System was launched and gained immediate success. It is still the number one product in the industry.
Almost 30 years later, Backscratchers offers over 200 quality products, with each creation lead by Michael Megna. He is known for his many designs and patents on products that have innovated, improved, and helped shape the beauty industry.
He continues to empower nail techs, educators, and students worldwide with his leadership, product advancement, and engineering in the beauty industry. Megna is a charter member of the Nail Manufacturer’s Council (NMC), a member of the American Beauty Association, and a member of BBSI.

If you know anything at all about fiberglass, the word itself should bring to mind the concept of strength combined with good looks.
