Matte polish is still hot, according to the February issue of Glamour. Be prepared by testing out the matte French mani and stocking up on matte topcoats.

"Mattes have a reputation for not lasting as long as regular polishes," celeb manicurist Kimmie Kyees says. Starting with a base coat will prevent yellow stains and keep matte polish on.

Fast-dry matte polish requires no top coat, or add matte topcoat to regular shiny polish to keep your favorite color.

Try the "new French mani" that Kyees created for Kim Kardashian: two matte black coats over the entire nail and clear, shiny polish along the tip.

Glamour features these products: Zoya Matte-Velvet Nail Polish in Harlow, CND Super Matte topcoat, OPI Matte Nail Lacquer in You Don't Know Jacques! and La Paz-itively Hot.
