The March issue of Cosmopolitan magazine says chipped nails just don't make a great first impression."If you are going out and plan on holding a glass of wine all night or are meeting a slew of new people and will be shaking hands with them, take two seconds to touch up," the magazine recommends.

According to celeb manicurist Elle, nail color pens are the solution. A dop of matching polish from a pen (Cosmopolitan suggests Sally Hansen Color Quick Fast Dry Nail Color Pen) can cover up small chips. Cuticle oil, instead of topcoat, is a quicker way to add shine, and bringing polish-remover wipes for major mess-ups are always a smart option.

Suggest a nail pen for clients who need to space out their appointments, and make sure to keep some stocked.
