Effective as of March, estheticians in the state of Washington can only use “prescriptive” lasers.

There’s been an increase in cosmetology school enrollment of more than 29% from 2000 to 2005, according to a recent study by NACCAS (National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences).

In August, Diana Mears filed a wrongful death suit against a Mountain View, Calif., nail salon alleging that her daughter, Jessica, died as the result of a bac-terial infection she contracted during a 2004 pedicure.
