Congratulations to Halley Fortenberry! Halley is the clear winner for the second week in a row! Her positive take on negative space took the judges’ breath away.
Guest judge Hellen Luu of Bio Seaweed Gel said, “Love the airy design you chose and how you incorporated plants — after all, we are a part of that family (seaweed!) too. Loved the individual details you included on each nail.
Head judge Jan Arnold said, “LOVE these nails, they are so beautiful! Please keep demo clean and upright so we can learn about your great techniques. Please teach vs. just show. Nice use of negative space!”
NAILS art director Yuiko Sugino said, “Gorgeous set, with lots of negative space! I love how she worked in succulents as “breathable” elements. There’s so much detailing/work that goes into them (look at those tiny petals!). The succulents are almost abstract, geometric shapes that work nicely with the overall nail design. Crazy work on the bulb succulents! The audio in the video is hard to hear at one point, and the music can get distracting, but good focus on the tips.
NAILS head judge Beth Livesay said, “These nails are so true to Halley and her design aesthetic, and they are also true to the challenge at hand. The succulent concept is so great! Beautiful and on-trend nails.”

Halley will be receiving a gift package from Bio Seaweed Gel valued at over $500!
The nail tech who is packing up her paintbrushes this week is… Jenna Jupin. Jenna brought her unique nail style to NTNA and we will not soon forget it. Her full model looks were complete works of art, all centered around the nails.
But this won’t be the last you hear from Jenna. She will move on to CND’s Last Chance Design Lab where she’ll have one last chance to stay in the competition. Check back Friday to see who will move on in our Last Chance battle — Jenna or Liza.
Tune in Monday to see the results of the Gel II challenge and vote for your favorites! Good luck to the Top 6!
