Many of the athletes at the London Olympics are expressing their patriotism -- and their personal style -- through their nail art. As they compete for gold, silver and bronze medals, many Olympians are sporting flags, their country colors, and even the Olympic rings on their nails. With the growing popularity of nail art all over, photographers have been focusing their lenses in on the athletes' hands (and feet) for those closeup nail art shots. And the athletes themselves have taken to Twitter to post their own patriotic (nail art) pride for the whole world to see.
Swimmers, archers, beach volleyball players, track and field athletes, rowers, you name it and we've seen it on their hands. It's such a cool way to express your own personal style while going for gold.
There are a number of salons set up to cater to the athletes and their familes, including several P&G-sponsored salons. P&G spokesperson Catherine McMahon told TODAY.com, “We are expecting to deliver 25,000 treatments by the end of the games.” She also noted that the U.S. flag is the most requested, followed by Great Britain, Canada, and Australia.
In addition to the athletes, we've received plenty of Olympics-inspired nail art directly from nail techs around the world. Here's a gallery (we'll be adding to it as we get more photos) of some of the Olympians' nails as well as Olympics-inspired art from your fellow nail techs.
We've also created an Olympic Nail Art board on Pinterest to inspire you. And even more great Olympic nail art can be found at Jezebel, People, and Elle.
