Get the Look: CND x The Blonds at NYFW

Jan Arnold, co-founder of CND, hand selected Julie Kandalec (@julieknailsnyc) and Lavette Cephus (@beaute_asylum) to lead the nail team for The Blonds’ Spring/Summer 2023 runway show at New York Fashion Week. Kandalec, Cephus and the team took the nails to the max, ideating and executing some beautiful looks that screamed luxury.

The Blonds are known for creating collections that are over the top with a rebellious twist. What makes the CND x The Blonds years-long partnership so unique is that The Blonds were one of the first shows that started incorporating nail art into its looks, putting nails on the map for the runway.

The Blonds’ latest collection is a tribute to the first summer they shared—filled with escapism, glamor, and nightlife in New York City—and all about excess style. The collection features the signature over-the-top looks with golden hardware and crystals, which can be seen dripping off both the clothes and the nails.

Dipped, Wrapped, and Framed in Chain

1. Apply one coat of CND™ PLEXIGEL™ Bonder to coat the nail with a bonding base coat
2. Apply one coat of CND™ Shellac™ No-Wipe+ Top Coat followed by gold chrome powder
3. Finish with CND™ Shellac™ No-Wipe+ Top Coat for high shine and long-lasting wear
4. Using CND™ PLEXIGEL™ Builder, embellish:
   • The tips of the nails with gold chain for Dipped in Chain
   • Position the chain in a continuous flow down the nail bed for Wrapped in Chain
   • Frame the nail using one long chain strand, and another shorter strand down the center of the nail for Framed in Chain

Diamond Strands

1. Apply one coat of CND™ PLEXIGEL™ Bonder to coat the nail with a bonding base coat
2. Apply one coat of CND™ Shellac™ No-Wipe+ Top Coat followed by gold chrome powder
3. Finish with CND™ Shellac™ No-Wipe+ Top Coat for high shine and long-lasting wear
4. Using CND™ PLEXIGEL™ Builder, embellish the nail with a single line of diamond-encrusted chain from the designers’ pieces down the center of the nail

Gold Studs

1. Apply one coat of CND™ Shellac™ Base Coat for a long-wearing base
2. Apply three coats of CND™ Shellac™ in Black Pool and cure using CND™ LED Lamp
3. Finish with CND™ Shellac™ No-Wipe+ Top Coat for high shine and long-lasting wear
4. Using CND™ PLEXIGEL™ Builder, embellish the nail with gold studs in varying sizes and in a consistent pattern

Solid Gold

1. Apply one coat of CND™ PLEXIGEL™ Bonder to coat the nail with a bonding base coat
2. Apply one coat of CND™ Shellac™ No-Wipe+ Top Coat followed by gold chrome powder
3. Finish with CND™ Shellac™ No-Wipe+ Top Coat for high shine and long-lasting wear

Navy Pearl

1. Apply one coat of CND™ Shellac™ Base Coat for a long-wearing base
2. Apply three coats of CND™ Shellac™ in Indigo Frock and cure using CND™ LED Lamp
3. Apply one coat of CND™ Shellac™ No-Wipe+ Top Coat followed by CND™ Over the Top Effects in Pearl Obsession
4. Finish with a coat CND™ Shellac™ No-Wipe+ Top Coat and cure for high shine and long-lasting wear

Coffin Neutrals

1. Apply one coat of CND™ Shellac™ Base Coat for a long-wearing base
2. Apply three coats of CND™ Shellac™ in Bare Chemise, Satin Pajamas, or Wooded Bliss, depending on skin tone, and cure using CND™ LED Lamp
3. Finish with CND™ Shellac™ No-Wipe+ Top Coat for high shine and long-lasting wear
