Nails 101: A Student Blog

Wedding…Funeral…Exams

My end in the nail technology program is weeks away from completion. Due to missing four days last week, I am doubling up on exams so I can get done quickly. We covered chapter 10 (chemistry), chapter 11 (nail product chemistry), and chapter 12 (electricity). My exam grades were all 100% — I think I’m getting pretty good at this. My recent absence from school was for a wedding on 9/10/11 and also my grandfather’s passing (Merrill E. Bishir 2/1/1922-9/7/2011). My grandaddy was a great man with unforgettable laughter and creativity. I believe most of my creativity has to come from this wonderful man who is now resting peacefully. I love you to the moon and back.

One of my best friends got married and she does not like her nails to have anything on them. The bride was refusing to allow me to paint anything other than clear. This was great for the groom’s manicure, but I got the bride to allow me to do a French manicure using CND shellac. She loved the French and the bit of sparkle I added using CND Mother of Pearl and now wants regular maintenance. The bride and groom flew off to Hawaii for the honeymoon and to snap some pictures of their new manicures in the sand and sun. Needless to say I have gained two clients that never thought they would enjoy such services. Next week it’s back to school and the salon floor.
