Last week I mentioned that I was off to help with the makeup for our benefit fashion show. I have to say it was a great experience. Myself and about five of the other employees at the salon all helped get our over 30 models makeup ready for the evening show. All of the hair stylists helped to get the hair ready and we had two local clothing stores provide clothing for the event.
It was so much fun! We cleared out the hair side of the salon of chairs and mats and put in a runway. One of our estheticians had a gorgeous vision for a winter wonderland look to decorate around it. Several of the husbands helped to paint the branch decorations and we all brought in candles and vases to line the runway. It was stunning!
Once all the preparations were done, we opened the doors and soon had a packed house.
The DJ played the music for us and switched it all up when some of our stylists went out onstage to do a live style and simple cut in front of the audience. We had about 10 models walk the runway before two of our stylists would take the stage. Of the first two stylists, one used hair chalk to create a flame looking color on the ends of the model’s hair. The other texturized and cut the model’s short hair with a razor then dried and restyled it. Then more models walked and more stylists came out for their turn on stage. It was incredible to see them doing their thing on the runway.
Several local wineries provided wine and small hors d’oeuvres, while Rachael’s new husband served wine to the guests. It truly was a salon family event. Which is fitting since all of the proceeds are going to the Girls Council of Walla Walla. All total that night we raised over $1,400 for them and we are taking donations throughout the rest of the month to add to that number. It was a wonderful Fashion’s Night Out for us and we can’t wait to do something similar next year!
