Where to start...where to start...well, let's start with: Why start over? When I graduated from nail school I was immediately hired at a busy full-service salon, and I started working hard to build a clientele. I believe the key to my success was never saying no! I never said no to staying late, coming in early, or trying something new. Anyone that was willing to give me a chance was deserving of yes, yes, and yes! After working for a couple of years I started to think, what next?
The opportunity to branch out came at the perfect time and I thought, "Why start saying no now?!"
Getting Studio 160 up and running was a whirlwind! Theresa and I were pushed out of our previous booth rental situations (this could be an entire entry...DRAMA!), but we refused to leave our clients high and dry....So with lots of help and determination, major renovations were made in a matter of weeks.
We made every design choice with our clients in mind. We wanted clients to feel at home...not too stuffy, not too fancy, not too chic....a lil modern, a lil flare, and a lot inviting! Studio 160 is the kinda salon you might just spend the afternoon at...even without an appointment. If I had a dollar for every time we've heard "I just love the atmosphere here!"...mmmm...what would I buy? SHOES!
So when we first opened the doors we were fully prepared for a lull. We thought it will take a couple week, maybe even months. SO NOT THE CASE! Wow, have we been busy!
I have picked up extra hours and still am turning people away. Theresa is in the same boat and let me make it very clear; we are not complaining! Turning our duo into a trio is high on the priority list. Ideally we're hoping to find someone willing to do both hair and nails to pick up the slack for both of us...but man are we going to be picky. This ship is sailing so so smoothly and would hate to rock the boat! Wish us luck.
Month three of Graffiti Nail Bar’s new location has been more than a handful and to say it’s been interesting is an understatement. I’ve had a few manicurists inquire about working at GNB over the last
I have a small obsession with indie/franken polishes that has almost consumed what little free time I have. I haven't purchased any because I know I can make some. I do, however, love coming across different
Three weeks open, and things are pretty normal. My clients can't believe the place looks like it does, especially since the last place was pretty colorless. I'm happy and relieved now that I'm out of the
Summer has officially started for us here in Virginia. Schools are out and, as many others, I made the list for "worst end-of-the-year moms" :)Between tardies, gluing junk to homework, and reading baby books to save
