My name is Kendra Budjenska and I live in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colo. I just recently moved up here in August from Arizona (talk about a crazy weather change). I am starting nail school tomorrow (October 22nd) at International Salon and Spa Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. I will be going Monday through Thursday from 12 pm to 5 pm. The course is 600 hours long.
Let me tell you a little more about myself and why I am starting nail technician school. I am married to a wonderful husband who supports me through all my decisions in life. I also have two beautiful children. My daughter is 15 and my son is 12.
I have always been a fanatic when it comes to everything about nails. I think it began when I used to have my cousin do my nails. I was always her model when she was in nail school and a loyal client every 2 weeks when she became licensed until she decided to leave the field. She bought me product and showed me how to apply and keep up on my own nails. My love for nails exploded from there.
I decided back in 2005 I would take a nail course in Arizona to obtain my license. I went through everything. I even got licensed. But no one told me how hard it would be in Arizona to work with all of the non-standard salons. So I decided to put in on the back burner to stay at home with my children.
When my family and I decided to move back to my husband's hometown I researched all I could about becoming a nail tech here in Colorado. Literally within two weeks of moving up here, I was enrolled.
I'm nervous since they require more courses here. Also when I was in school before gel was just starting to come out. I will be going through waxing, e-filing courses, gel-polish, and other new trends that have come out.
I will be keeping you all posted weekly with everything I will be learning. I am excited and scared all at the same time.
