Want to convert your manicure regular into the newest nail art fan? Consider offering her a simple and subtle design first before you paint a wild look. Follow these steps from Las Vegas-based nail tech Shannon Rooney to see how she easily added a two-step design to an accent nail.

1. Polish all the nails using OPI Berlin There, Done That, and paint the statement nail in OPI Do You Take Lei Away.

2. Using a detail art brush, paint two oblong shapes opposing each other on the statement nail. Let dry.

3. Again, using an art brush, apply the lighter color over the two oblong shapes. Let dry.

4. Seal the look with top coat. Rooney used OPI Matte Top Coat on the accent nail to create a satin finish and remove the shine.
