TBT: Fantasy Nail Art Winners at IBS

by Nancy Kirk | June 18, 2015 | Bookmark +

In honor of this weekend's International Beauty Show in Las Vegas, we’re looking at the talented technicians who placed in the Fantasy Nail Art Competition at IBS throughout the past years.

Here, contestant Classic Mully was the runner-up with her theme of mythology back in 2011. Complete with scaly skin and to-die-for lashes, people were probably green with envy about this stellar ensemble.

Then in 2012, things took a dark turn. Pairing the nail art with her heavily tattooed friend and skull-like face makeup, nail technician Amanda Lenher opted for “The Day of the Dead” as her nail art theme, with which she took home fourth place.

Lastly, the first place winner for the IBS Fantasy Nail Art competition in 2008 was a sculpture of a Venetian acrobat doing a backbend off the acrylic, created by the veteran competitor Catherine Wong Li Mei. The full list of her steps can be seen in Indulging In Fantasy, where NAILS goes into detail about how to create an elaborate and award-winning work of art.

If you aren’t already going, make sure to attend IBS next year. Both educational and entertaining, beauty shows include exhibits, classes, networking, and shopping.
