One word that describes the way I feel right now is rejuvinated! I know I keep saying this, but it’s been such a long journey, from being excited and feeling unstoppable to being tired and exhausted and feeling like I couldn’t do it anymore. Now, every day that passes and I get closer to my graduation date I get more and more energy.
I’m getting that excitement back. That feeling of new beginnings and the butterflies in my stomach. It’s such a great feeling!
Monday is here and I have a countdown on my calendar. With 12 days left, I’m ready to get the rest of my signatures on my mod sheet. I only have 20/60 slots left over the next 12 days. I know I can do it and I will!
It’s been pretty slow on the salon floor since the New Year, which makes it difficult to get those signatures, but that’s OK. We just have to make sure we stay busy by working on our practice hands and fingers.
I also like to make sure to have my station set up, just in case there’s a walk-in or a cosmo student who randomly asks to get her nails done. Either way I’m ready.
I'm ready to do nails, ready to finish school, ready to be licensed, ready to start my new career, I’m just ready for what 2018 has for me! With no appointments scheduled, one of my lovely cosmo friends came to me for a polish change. She asked for all white, and it was simple and beautiful.
Tuesday was just as slow as Monday with no appointments. I’ve been craving to do a full set, so I grabbed another one of my cosmo friends, the one that lets me do literally whatever I want. It’s been a little while since she has had her nails done so the timing was perfect.
Of course I sculpted her set. It’s always nice when you have repeat clients because you start to learn exactly what they want without asking, like shape and length. With that being said I put the forms on and sculpted some medium length claws, her favorite! We painted them white and added rose gold chrome with grape-colored chrome flakes! Every time I do her nails she falls in love with the set and there’s no better feeling then to see your clients with that satisfaction! She definitely was LovingJoSelf and that’s what I’m here to do!
We spent the first part of our Wednesday with our career advisor doing mock interviews. Now that we’re coming close to the end, they are helping us to prepare. Not everyone was excited about it, but I didn’t mind because it was a nice way to freshen up on my interviewing skills.
After the mock interviews, we went back on the floor with no appointments scheduled yet again. It was bit frustrating because as I said, I was ready to do nails. So I just decided to study the Nevada law book so I could be ready for my written exam. It was a good night overall. I was surrounded by ladies that shared a journey with me while preparing myself for my future. The only way it could’ve been any better is if my kids were with me too. Just to think, in two weeks, I’ll have so much more time with them!
This week was cut short due to a water line breaking at school. While I’ll have more hours to make up, I got to spend the night with my babies and that was the best way to end my week for me. Now I’ll rest up to come back and end the last two weeks with a bang! I'm so excited, I hope you all are ready for the next chapter of your lives!
Till next time, stay positive, stay focused and continue to SpreadJoLove!
