On Saturday, November 19th, I put on my second annual Polished Girlz Ball presented by Orly at H.I.S House Women and Families Transitional Shelter in Placentia, Calif. The Polished Girlz Ball allowed the residents at the home to get pampered courtesy of Orly Beauty, Paul Mitchell, and Morphe Cosmetics, then enjoy themselves at a huge party DJ’d by DJ Casper of the hit Fox series Empire.

With the help of donors across the country I collected formal dresses and bowties so that the families felt amazing on the big day. The nail community came out to support in a big way. The residents were surprised to find the amazing celebrity nail talent that came to help them prepare, including Mr. Luis Nails, Tom Bachik, Elaine Watson, and Cyndi Daniels. These families truly got pampered by the best of the best. They even got to create and name their very own custom nail polish with the Orly Mixology Cart. Orly also created two special colors that I named to be put in the gift bags at the ball: a bright electric pink named Polished Girlz 2016 as well as a holographic sliver glitter named Belle of the Ball. The families were then met with a few special guests including V Bozeman of Empire, Ava Cantrell of Nickelodeon, and Lawon Exum of Big Brother CBS came to dance the night away.

The entire night was everything that I imagined and with school on Monday I left just like Cinderella at midnight to catch my flight back home. It never feels like work when you love what you do but I must say that it took a lot of support and time to make this Ball everything that I imagined. The biggest surprise of them all was when fairy godmother Katie Cazorla donated enough funds to get four of the special families out of a shelter and into permanent housing, which was my goal all along.

With the holiday season here, I know that I have a lot to be thankful for. And I am very thankful to Nails Magazine for always allowing me to share my stories. If you would like to participate in the 2017 Polished Girlz Ball please visit my website, www.polishedgirlzball.com or www.polishedgirlz.org and send me an email. This is my final year of high school and I would love to make next years ball even bigger for my next group of surprise guests.
