Nail Art Studio: Head in the Clouds

by Sigourney Nuñez | September 9, 2016

1. Prep the nail for gel-polish application. Paint a sky-blue base color and cure. Repeat with a second coat for full coverage.

2. With a small spotter brush and white gel-polish, tap and press the brush onto the nail to create cloud shapes. With a clean spotter brush and gel top coat, lightly tap around the edges of the clouds to blur any hard lines for a wispy effect. Cure.

3. Using a thin detail brush, add diagonal lines with a black gel-polish and black triangle details for a graphic contrast to the clouds. Cure. Embellish the look as desired and finish with gel top coat and cure.

Mini Masterpiece Nail Art 2019: Urban Drama

by Katherine Fleming

Congratulations to Jodie Rahaley, who took the top spot in this year’s Mini Masterpiece nail art contest after entering the two previous years. Her detailed, contrasting rendition of “Urban Expressions” by Michael Lang impressed the judges. Other beautiful entries ranged from the ever-popular Vermeer to Dali and Basquiat.
