“Being a part of our community is a large part of our mission statement and purpose,” says Cindy Feldman, owner of Progressions Salon Spa Store in Rockville, Md. Feldman has discovered there’s no better place to engage friends and neighbors than the local farmers’ market. The salon puts in regular appearances at Pike Central Farm Market so shoppers can meet salon staff, try out the latest in fun hair color, and get discount coupons. “We also give out coupons for complimentary services, such as a polish change, to get them to come in and experience Progressions’ environment,” says Feldman. “In addition, we give out Progressions branded nail files with a mirror on the back, as well as reusable tote bags for their market purchases. They are a huge hit and successful marketing pieces.”
Feldman’s outreach efforts have successfully turned market shoppers into new salon clients. “One shopper actually came right over and had a massage!” she says.
There is no fee for the salon to set up at the market; however, it pays a yearly fee to be a sponsor.
