In April, Nontoxique and non-profit Spa4ThePink completed the first of many planned manicurist oncology trainings. These specialized trainings give licensed manicurists a glimpse into the effects of cancer treatments and how they change the way services are administered in the spa to safely and appropriately accommodate clients with cancer.

Oncology training provides important tools for spa professionals providing treatments that support a full mind/body/spirit approach to relaxation and healing, or are simply about feeling good on this new journey. Patients or survivors can confidently receive hand and foot care that is appropriate for them with licensees who know how to navigate the needs of those who have had lymph nodes removed, and especially those who suffer from lymphedema or peripheral neuropathy.

The training is done over two days with the first part conducted by Sally Tenioro, an oncology nurse, and the remainder by Spa4ThePink and Nontoxique. Attendees are also provided both retail and fundraising opportunities that help announce their specialized offering to their community while raising funds to support continuing trade education and free spa days.
