Have you heard of the $51,000 manicure, a nail service that puts 10 carats of actual brilliant white cut polished diamonds on the free edge of clients’ fingertips to create what may possibly be the most expensive French manicure ever? It’s dubbed The Iced Manicure and is offered by nail team Cherish…Me, which promises it will travel worldwide to perform this exclusive service.
While we haven’t spotted that manicure yet on anyone’s nails around NAILS’ Los Angeles headquarters, we have noticed an uptick in bejeweled and high-end nail looks at salons worldwide. Here are a few of our favorites:
> For $49 spa clients at the Tocaloma Spa at Pointe Hilton in the Tapatio Cliffs Resort, Phoenix, can have their toes glamorized with a service that utilizes stunning Swarovski crystals instead of nail polish. The glittering crystals (up to 90 of them) last up to three weeks and several extra crystals for at-home touch-ups are provided.
> The swanky Ritz London hotel gives yet another reason for the expression “puttin’ on the Ritz” with its new “The Ritz Manicure,” which was created in conjunction with Jeff Pink, the founder of Orly. The manicure, which costs £85 (about $136), is a full-on hand treatment that ends with a unique French style “with liberal lashings of luxury,” as the Ritz London’s website proclaims. The gold Orly polish is swiped thinly at the free edge, with a bonus line of polish extending diagonally across the nail.
> At Immix Hair Gallery & Day Spa in Conyers, Ga., Big Diamond Nails take over 200 Swarovski crystals, and, for the length shown, cost $100. Nail tech Bresay DeFoor says, “I use Young Nails clear acrylic, then lay down silver foil and encase it. I then shape and glue all of the crystals, then top with gel top coat and cure.”
