When it comes to making edge nails, the most important part of the sculpt is to have a crisply creased form so the acrylic falls perfectly into place and gives you that nice edgy look. Young Nails educator and salon owner Angel Smith of Angel’s Touch Nail & Skin Spa in Duxbury, Mass., shows how she prepares her forms for edge nails.

1. Crease all the forms in three places — down the center to create a spine, then on each side.

2. Fold the form in half and cut a small notch in the center of the spine crease to allow the form to fit properly under the nail.

3. Smith prefers the reverse method to apply the acrylic, and once she has sculpted the nail, she pinches the sides with a pincher to further accentuate the deep angles of the edge nail.
