Several well-known nail product manufacturers have been purchased by larger beauty industry companies. Realys, Flowery Beauty Products, and Chéci have all been bought.

In November 2007, Robanda International bought Realys Inc., a California-based company best known for its Tropical Shine brand of nail files. Robanda president David Leib said he plans to run Realys as an independent company and continue to grow the Tropical Shine brand.

In December 2007, Spilo Worlwide acquired Connecticut-based Flowery Beauty Products. Spilo will continue to develop Flowery’s products, such as the D-files, D-Kits, and Purifiles, and will create new products as well under the Flowery brand.

AII acquired certain assets of Chéci in December 2007. Chéci specializes in making professional pedicure and nail products such as files, buffers, and other nail and foot tools. Certain Chéci products are now part of the AII family, and will complement AII’s existing foot care lines of Gena and ProLinc.
