How is that whole “kind of healthy” thing working out for you? I’ve been doing pretty well. Something that has really made a difference for me is being diligent about eating breakfast. I know ... you’re too busy to make breakfast. What about something you can prep on Sundays then grab and go throughout the week?
Get some low-fat yogurt and choose plain oatmeal oats or steel cut oats if you want a chewier texture. To bump up the health factor, you could even do chia seeds or to add texture, unsweetened coconut. Combine the yogurt with your mix of choice in simple to-go containers — enough of them for the week — then throw them in the fridge. The yogurt will soften the chia or oats. If you want a creamier texture add a tablespoon or two of milk.
The protein from the yogurt combined with the fiber from the oats or chia seeds will help you feel full for a good chunk of time. Not starting your day off hungry eliminates the morning shakes, the before-lunch headache, the binging at lunch, and all those frustrating things that make your day at the salon more hectic than it already is.
Here is a website with some ideas for low-carb lunches you can make ahead of time. If you are too stubborn to eat lunch, they could be dinner! If you need carbs, you could always throw some of them on a tortilla or sandwich bread.
Getting a little bit of activity in, even if it’s just a smidge of walking is helpful as well. Stay hydrated and good luck in your health goals!
