Celebrity Manis Shine Brightly at the 2020 Academy Awards

Regina King’s opaque grey manicure was created by lead nail tech Sydney Buck of Frenchies Nails, and featured layers of CND Vinylux in Cityscape that complemented the Watchmen actress’ stunning Versace dress.

 

Saoirse Ronan

Best actress nominee Saoirse Ronan's look was created by celebrity manicurist Queenie Nguyen. Ronan wore Essie’s newest quick-dry polish, expressie. “The neutral lavender polish matches the bottom half of her dress and complements her lavender eye makeup look, capturing an overall romantic feel,” says Nguyen.

 

Greta Gerwig

Greta Gerwig’s look was created by celebrity manicurist, Mazz Hanna, who used Essie Mani Thanks sealed with a layer of Essie’s Gel-Setter.  “We chose the gold shade as a fun neutral to complement her classic, simple satin ball gown and to bring out the highlights of her hair,” says Hanna. Gerwig was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay.

 

Lilliana Vazquez

E! News host Lilliana Vazquez gave the glass manicure a French twist. LA-based celebrity manicurist Brittney Boyce (@nails_of_la), used ORLY's GELFX Builder in a Bottle to build the clear glass tips to match the glass effect of Vazquez' dress. To accent the tips, Boyce added a thin, barely-there gold line using ORLY's GELFX Luxe.

 

Emma Roberts

Emma Roberts’ look at the Vanity Fair Oscar party was created by Mazz Hanna. Roberts wore Princess Charming from Essie’s gel couture line. “We were looking for the perfect blush pink shade to complement the lace details of her dress,” says Hanna.

 

Chrissy Teigen

Celebrity manicurist Kimmie Kyees created Chrissy Teigen’s look at the Vanity Fair party with two coats of Essie Last Nightie. "Chrissy is a huge fan of a sheer nude, but for this event she wanted something with a little more coverage,” says Kyees.

 

Rihanna

Kyees also did Rihanna’s nails for Beyonce and Jay-Z's Oscar party, putting a twist on the classic French manicure. “For her hands she wants a very clean natural nail, so we tipped her nails with Essie Marshmallow. Since she was wearing black, I suggested adding Blue-tiful Horizon for a light chrome purple sheen,” says Kyees.
