Did you know that over-curing a nail or leaving the UV gel coating on longer than recommended is likely to increase removal time? “UV gel manicures are safe, useful salon services that require proper application, maintenance, and careful removal,” says Doug Schoon, president of Schoon Scientific and co-chair of the Nail Manufacturers Council on Safety. “Clients should not be allowed to extend wearing time beyond what is recommended, e.g. two weeks. This type of nail coating typically becomes more difficult to remove the longer it remains on the nail, reaching peak removal difficulty after about four weeks. Improper curing by using an incorrect nail lamp can also make UV nail coatings more difficult to remove.”
