GO TO A BEAUTY SHOW – but don’t just focus on nails. Visit skin, spa, waxing, hair, and technology booths. Attend classes that don’t necessarily pertain to your business. You’ll be surprised how new information inspires you.

SET A GOAL AND WORK A LITTLE BIT EVERY DAY TO ACHIEVE IT. There’s never a “good” time to do it, but you have to make time for improvement.

READ AN INSPIRATIONAL BOOK FOR BUSINESS OWNERS – even if you are an employee.

TRY SOMETHING NEW. Maybe add a specialty service, master colored gel or acrylic, enroll in a nail competition, or participate in a NAILS competition.

CHANGE SOMETHING. Change your scenery, change your attitude, change your hair – just change something.

BRIBE YOURSELF. Reward yourself changes. Each time you reach a goal – new clients, for example – put money into a vacation fund.

WRITE A LETTER to a person you admire and tell them the things about them that inspire you. Keep the letter with you to remind you of what is possible.

COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR PEERS. After all, if anyone understands what’s ailing you, it’s them. Chat groups, message boards, networking events, and continuing education classes are great places to find potential advisors.

MAKE A PLAN FOR CHANGING YOUR BUSINESS FOR THE BETTER. Focus on stale areas. Maybe you need to change your approach to customer service, shuffle you hours, switch your product lines, update your pricing, speed up your fill times, or rewrite your salon’s manual.

PURGE YOUR SALON OR AREA OF ALL NON-ESSENTIAL CLUTTER. It’s easy to let things pile up. Not only does this look bad to your clients, but it can also put a damper on your mood.
