Service Station Savvy

Designing a workstation setup that’s simple and pleasing to the eye can set the tone for creating a spa-like atmosphere.

Designing a workstation setup that’s simple and pleasing to the eye can set the tone for creating a spa-like atmosphere. To produce an ambience you can work out of and your client can relax in, follow these 10 tips from Tony Cuccio, Star Nail International and Cuccio Naturale president, who suggests these pointers on turning your workstation into a personal style haven.

  • Change your table lamp by choosing one that reflects style and contains bright colors.
  • Make your station more upscale by using beautiful dappen dishes, dispensing units, and implement and brush holders. Be sure these elements coordinate with each other and the surrounding decor
  • Use colored towels to further emphasize the color theme of the salon. You can even have them monogrammed with the salon’s name.
  • Decorate walls with pictures that exemplify up-to-date nails, make-up, and hairstyles.
  • If space permits, keep a plastic brochure holder nearby filled with information about your services and products. This will encourage clients to ask more questions, which can lead to retail sales.
  • Create a relaxing spa atmosphere by using an aromatherapy diffuser throughout the day. Both your clients and staff will revel in the experience.
  • Place fresh flowers and plants wherever possible to evoke the feelings of being in nature.
  • Play soft, relaxing music to help ease away the day’s tension.
  • Break away from stark white walls. Use a soothing peach, cool blue, or refreshing green shade instead. You can even try stencilling and adding a wallpaper border
  • Add luxurious slipcovers over client chairs to provide a warm, comfortable feeling.
