At its September 28 meeting, the Texas Cosmetology Commission requested input from nail technicians from both sides of the nail drill issue to offer input to the board members. The Commission has brought up the issue several times over the past year because of a tremendous influx of consumer complaints about nail damage due to drill use, says nail technician Marti Preuss, who’s been following the issue and attending the board meetings. In response to the request, Preuss is composing a questionnaire that she hopes to have a local distributor pass out to its nail technician customers. “I’m going to ask if they use a drill, how often, and what they use it for (prepping or finishing)?” she says.
