A nail tech since 2003, Adrienne Schodtler opened a private nail studio called Nails by Adrienne in Fuquay Varina, N.C., four years ago. She has plans to expand next year. Schodtler shared these photos of a meaningful person, place, and thing at work.

Person: Teresa Carter and I were brought together through our love of nails — Young Nails specifically. We have worked together in a spa, inspired each other to do our best work, and shared knowledge to improve our individual businesses and lives. A few years ago, after Teresa moved back to Florida, we once again began to work together as educators for Young Nails. We reconnect at shows, catch up, and have a great time.

Place: I offer top-quality products in my retail area that I use during client services so they can maintain their hands and feet between visits. Other items — such as bags and sunglasses — are also available in the studio, but I try to keep them unique, one-of-a-kind pieces.

Thing: There are two things that help keep me at the top of my game. My nail trainer hand displays designs I have been working on or new products I am currently playing with. And my Valentino is something I couldn’t live without.
