That's about as much warning as Jan Arnold gets before she goes on the air to educate consumers about nail care. Arnold, president of Creative Nail Design Systems, decided last year to make the most of her time traveling to shows and educational events by incorporating appearances on local news shows. Not longer after Lippe Taylor, the company's consumer public relations firm, sent out its first batch of press packages on Creative to TV stations, Arnold appeared on KVUE's MidDay News program in Austin, Texas. The next day, she appeared on the Fox network news show in Austin, showing viewers Creative's products.

In early October, Arnold traveled to Kansas City, Mo., where she did a nail makeover on one of the asociate producers of Channel 4's The Morning Show. "The anchorpeople got so involved in the makeover that they were talking about nails every time the show was going off or coming on the air. At the end of the show, the producer did the weather, showing off her hands," says Arnold.

The day after that program aired, CNN called Arnold for information on a segment it was doing on nail care. "They were so pleased with the material we sent them, we ended up being the entire piece," she says. In CNN's October 25th "All About Women" segment, Arnold discussed nail trends.

More recently, Arnold appeared on "Makeover Madnes" on MTV, where she made over the nails of four models whose hair had been dyed red.
