The next World International Nail and Beauty Association’s show, scheduled for June, 1984, is already half sold out, according to Jim George, president.

Over 100 booths, representing 70-plus exhibitors, have been reserved and confirmed, according to Jim, a response unanticipated by the show promoter.

“I have been overwhelmed by the response for the show,” explained Jim, “and have had to expand the show to accommodate the demand.”

According to Jim, WINBA has taken on an additional 2000 square feet and is currently looking to further expand because of the increasing early demand for space.

“We feel that the success of the last WINBA show in Anaheim proved to the industry that this is a viable and important show to be in,” said Jim. “Many of the exhibitors, considering that they had a successful show with WINBA last June, have already bought booths for this next June’s show.”

In addition, Jim credits several other factors to the early success of this show: a sophisticated and evolving competition program that enhances attendance; WINBA’s style of floor plan and show layout; and a new direction in show booths.

“We have come up with a unique idea for our exhibitors,” explained Jim. “In a limited number of booths, we have set them up to include additional space for classrooms directly behind the booth. This approach has been received very well by our exhibitors, and we have had to add booths that offered this unique aspect to keep up with the demand.”

The classroom/booth is limited in availability, said Jim, and “anyone interested in this format should call A.S.A.P.”

In other WINBA show news, Jim outlined several steps taken to enhance the viability of the show and competitions. Among them:

Identification. At registration, all California contestants must present a photostatic copy of state board license and driver’s license. Other states and countries must show proper identification (license or identification with picture).

Nail Wraps.

All contestants in Nail Wrap that do not wrap the underside of the nail will be deducted five points.

All Nail Wrap materials may be pre-cut prior to the contest. WINBA feels that is the fastest way for all wraps or overlay materials to judged fairly.

“We anticipate this show, because of the early demand from exhibitors and the support of the manicurists, to easily surpass anything that WINBA has ever done before,” explained Jim.
