OPI educator and guest artist Lynn Ackerson-Warren gives some quick tips on acrylic backfills.
> While prepping nails, thin down the entire enhancement and re-shape. At this point, think of it as re-engineering the nail. As the nail grows, the apex moves and the nail becomes out of balance, which makes it necessary to do more than just file out a new smile line. Be sure to remove any lifted or damaged product completely, and make the free edge paper thin.
> Do not touch primer to the existing product, as this can cause yellowing. Also, do not let the product come in contact with the skin. This can cause lifting and also cause your clients’ skin to become sensitive to the product over time.
> Drier beads can offer more coverage, depending on the powder you are using. White powders tend to be more stark, while pink powders offer a little more color and coverage.
> Wetter beads tend to allow for better control in the cuticle area.
