Lysa Comfort, president of Charisma Nail Innovations Inc., gives some tips on making nail designs:

When creating a design nail, the bulk of your nail should consist of clear. Whether you are inlaying nail art or simply creating a nail with colored or glittered acrylic, you should apply an extremely thin layer of product and then cap the entire nail with clear. Using clear will keep you from filing off your enhancement when you complete your finish filing, and it will also give strength to the nail. This technique also helps you conserve product. A small amount of powder or nail art can go a long way if you use it sparingly.
