Maybe there's a bit of an adventurer in every nail technician, but Carol Perdue, a nail technician at Details Nail Salon in Bloomington, Ill., demonstrated more than her fair share of daring when she undertook a 5-day dogsled trip in the frozen reaches of Minnesota. The group of five women drove to Grand Marais, Minn., along the coast of Lake Superior, and then hiked to a fisherman's camp that served as home base.

"The first night we were introduced to a dog and shown how to rig up a team, how to stop, and how to try and control the dogs. I fell off about five times during the trip!" says Perdue. Despite the mishaps, she was quite taken with the beautiful scenery including a frozen lake they traveled across.

"It was the most difficult adventure trip I have ever been on, but also the most rewarding," she says.
