If I listed the names of everyone who contributed to NAILS Show San Francisco it would fill the page (which would make my job easy this month), but I must mention some people whose support made all the difference.

We’re grateful to the Nail Manufacturers Council, especially president George Schaeffer, for cosponsoring the show. They lent considerable support and credibility to the event. Our educational lineup was awe-inspiring and many classes were standing-room only. We were honored to have Dr. Richard Scher in person (see highlights in his column on page 88) and Dr. G.F. Oscar Mix doing two sessions on healthy feet. Hearty thanks also to our two headliners, Kym Lee and Tammy Taylor, and the rest of our terrific speakers.

I want to thank all of the Salon of the Year finalists and their supporters who attended the awards banquet. We had a blast! The evening would not have been possible without the sponsorship of Nailco Salon Marketplace and Larry Gaynor, who also lent his unique humor to the proceedings as co-host.

What I found most remarkable about this year’s Salon of the Year and Nail Technician of the Year finalists was that not only were they outstanding in nail care, but they have a wide variety of outside pursuits and achievements. They run successful salons, they’re civic-minded and community-involved, they have diverse personal pursuits (Shari Finger is an Emergency Medical Technician, for Pete’s sake!), and most of them also have a family to care for. Their stories have lots of valuable lessons to help you run your own winning business. Thanks to everyone who made this show happen!
