Adding the very personal touch of remembering a client’s name is a sure way to ensure that the client comes back again and again, and Day Spa Beautique Salon in Houston, Texas, is going the extra mile to remember who’s who.

Salon co-owner Ginny Burge says the salon is in the process of obtaining a tiny camera that will attach to the computer and stick up so that it is aimed at the client standing at the salon Command Center (first-floor reception desk). It will take a photo of the client as she is making her appointment. The photo will be automatically entered into the database under that client’s entry. Then, whenever the receptionist brings up a client’s data, the photo will appear on the screen. “It’s an instant identification,” says Burge. “This way, the receptionist gets to know the customer belter and can recognize her immediately at any time. It’s also a way for the stylists to see how a person is currently wearing her hair.”
