A 24-hour nail-a-thon is a great way to raise money for charity around the holidays and bring new business into the salon, says Marilyn Sawyer, a sales representative for Biddiscombe Labs (makers of Flamingo Bay products) in Clear-water, Fla. Get the word out-via radio, newspaper, and fliers-that during this marathon event you will donate so many dollars per fill or per set to a local women’s shelter or a child abuse agency. Or you may prefer to give a discount to anyone who brings in a gift for needy kids or delivers canned goods for a community food drive. “many of my salon owner clients who have tried a round-the-clock nail marathon are surprised at how many people come in at 2 a.m. Even more surprising is how many new clients you pick up. Women are very helping and sensitive to these causes,” says Sawyer.
